Color Trends 2024: in search of lost color

Open Mint, Endless Kurkum, Wild Rosemary, Boho Cinnamon, York Lavender, Jazz Juniper.
Six colour and style moodboards trace a gateway to forgone feelings.

Memories can bubble up unexpectedly, bringing with them the nostalgia of a world. To elicit something from our memory, all it takes is a fleeting scent, a random sound with a familiar ring to it, or the perception of a past caress received. Our memories, fossilised and seemingly inaccessible, are thus revealed in their immense power.

Colour, with its sensorial readiness, is the gateway to recall a bygone emotion and transform it into new possibility. Contact with a particular shade recalls sensations we thought were forgotten, which welcome us and make us feel at ease while pulling us towards the unexplored. We are used to interpreting 'trend' as a wholly unfamiliar and external concept that indicates a new path to follow. Sometimes, though, it is simply something that has always been within us waiting to be brought to the surface and dressed a new experience.

The Novacolor Color Trends 2024, studied and selected by Designer Gian Paolo Venier of OTTO Studio with the creative direction of Freedot, are interpreted in six colour palettes inspired by the eclectic properties of spices that stay with us on a sensory journey whose destination matches the revived memory of a world we feel we belong to.

<< The chosen colours are the result of six associations based on the dialogue between four colours in a single theme. Each individual colour consists of four nuances to remind us that a hue is never uniform, but the result of a sum of vibrations. If we looked closely at the nuances, we could discern a colour made up of the 4 elements; but if we looked even more closely, we could discover many more. Then it would again be a journey, a discovery once more, an ever-evolving focus>> - says the OTTO Studio designer.

The 6 palettes were previewed during a dynamic experience at the Novacolor Showroom in Milan, where designer Gian Paolo Venier and a maximum expert in spices and herbs,  shared a sensorial dialogue made of cross-cultural influences and connections.

Anna Bertaccini, Brand Marketing Manager at Novacolor, also took the floor, placing a strong emphasis on the evolution of the role of Novacolor Color Trends within the contemporary design scene: << the MATmotion line of professional flat paints has always provided the natural means of expressing the full potential of our colour intuitions.  But the power of Colour Trends sets no limits to ambition. Novacolor colour is both eclectic and versatile, reinventing itself without ever losing its identity. The strongly sensorial textures, along with the enveloping perceptive sensuality that define our brand's hallmark, bring back the possibility of conceiving Colour Trends as a decisive factor in interpreting a style that is never the same >>.

The common denominator of all facets of Novacolor's decoration proposals, both in terms of flat paint and textures, remains the great attention to sustainability. Almost all of the San Marco Group brand's products offer a formulation with a low emission of volatile compounds during application, renouncing formaldehyde and added plasticisers and thus adopting a Biomass Balance approach as evidenced by REDcert² certification. In particular MATmotion Supreme, MATmotion Extra, Puro_VOC free, the powder coatings of the Archi+ range, the lime finishes of the Minerals range, and the Novacolor primers, have also obtained Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification, the best guarantee that the products meet the low VOC emission requirements of the market, making them outstanding for ensuring indoor air quality.
